The wine varieties of Lagrein (Lagarino) and Gewürztraminer (Termeno Aromatico) are famous far beyond the borders of the region: South Tyrolean wines have gained an excellent reputation. The northernmost vineyards in Italy are also among the smallest, and yet they receive some of the highest praise and commendations in many famous wine guides.
